Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Health Promotion Services (HPS), the HPS Program Assistant will advance the University's vision of the common goods and services by planning, organizing, supporting and implementing health events and outreach programs on campus and virtual. As a critical member of the HPS team, the Program Assistant will contribute to the short term goals of the department and its programs. Working in a variety of areas, the Program Assistant will use their experience to help shape the delivery of programs and services in an effort to reach the departmental outcomes of providing programs and health services to students.

Full Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assist and support management of HPS social media accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter to promote Health Promotion Services to USF students.
  • Plan, support and implement health promotion outreach events and programs, such as Stress Less Day, Health Fair, Great American Smokeout, Alcohol Awareness Game Day, etc.
  • Coordinate, organize and plan monthly IG Live events about health and wellness for USF students.
  • Organize a variety of health education programs and activities including discussion groups and workshops.
  • Assist with recruitment and supervise health outreach team volunteers.
  • Compose and create HPS monthly newsletter of programs and events for all USF students.
  • Manage online educational course(s), for USF students by providing accurate reports of student progress
  • Maintain Health Promotion Services Outreach and Wellness Matters webpages with upcoming programs and events.
  • Support USF campus wide health requirements for health insurance and immunizations.
  • Other duties required.

Qualifications:
  • Post high school education preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in health education, research and programming in higher education settings.
  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support work or related education, including at least two years in a senior administrative support role.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including cross-cultural communication competencies
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Able to work independently in the absence of specific instructions
  • Ability to assess needs and establish or recommend program priorities and goals and develop plans to achieve goals.
  • Experience in creating print publications and designing, updating, and maintaining websites.
  • Develop educational materials and media such as pamphlets, audio and video materials, and social media.
  • Ability to use computer and web-based information technology systems as a resource for research and providing health education programs
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, students, other health professionals, and other community groups.

Additional Skills, Knowledge & Abilities needed for position:
  • Maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable laws and regulations (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA).
  • Self-directed, motivated and ambitious; enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of health education theories, research, and program assessment: planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of health education programs; and industry standards for the delivery of health education in higher education.
  • General knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, current and emerging college age student health problems and existing methods of intervention and control.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of educational and social psychology and how they apply to a health education program
  • Other duties as assigned.
