PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Facilities Manager oversees all department operations for Maintenance/Facilities, Ice Operations and EVS. Ensuring all activities performed within the department are in accordance with the company’s business objectives, budgetary guidelines, and established safety standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises assigned staff to include hiring recommendations encompassing the company’s diversity commitment; training; coaching; performance feedback; recommending and administering discipline; scheduling.
  • Creates a work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
  • Supervises assigned operational functions within the department to include prioritizing workload to staffing resources, meeting budgetary guidelines, ordering and maintaining stock items, specialty parts, and special project needs.
  • Reviews, plans, and coordinates all job assignments, sets work priorities, makes cost-effective assignment decisions, and ensures the completion of projects in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, in accordance with all established guidelines/standards of the department.
  • Assists in the evaluation and implementation of changes to the Preventative Maintenance Program. Oversees completion of detailed tasks designed to enhance the life of equipment and assets as related to the facility.
  • Schedules available personnel to effectively maximize efficiency levels, verifies hours worked, and documents/logs all important issues.
  • Evaluates employees’ performance and provides consistent feedback, generates and issues commendations to employees that consistently exceed departmental standards.
  • Empowers employees to provide premier service to guests. Ensures teamwork and interdepartmental approach to meeting guest service/quality expectations.
  • Works closely in mentoring/coaching all Lead positions in additional tasks/responsibilities to optimize advancement opportunities available for subordinate staff.
  • Provides guidance/direction as needed.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained and follow established safety standards by conducting periodic in-services on equipment, safety issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of all equipment/tools necessary to perform job duties. Assesses the age, condition, and useful life of major tools and equipment to determine purchasing needs for both operational and capital requests.
  • Completes assigned administrative tasks on a consistent basis, and within established timelines.
  • Ensures safety and compliance with Health Department, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies standards, regulations, and codes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years of prior relevant experience

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Driver’s License
  • Job specific certification may be required – depending on area of responsibility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess an outgoing personality, be warm and friendly, and demonstrate enthusiasm and professionalism. Possess extensive knowledge of repair and preventative maintenance of facilities equipment to include kitchen equipment, gas, steam, electrical, plumbing, perception and awareness of the Arena’s maintenance goals and policies.
  • Knowledge of fire and safety systems.
  • Knowledge of ice preparation and maintenance as well as knowledge of ice plant operations, PM’s and repairs.
  • Possess ability to effectively communicate, both in person and telephonically, when dealing with management, employees, and guests.
  • Possess effective listening abilities, with strong judgment skills.
  • Good working knowledge of computer software to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and/or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and evaluate written material.
  • Possess general knowledge of mathematical skills such as; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Possess ability to establish, and maintain, an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
  • Required to access all areas of the facility and travel off property when representing the Arena.
  • Withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to climb ladders onto raised areas and be able to work from scaffolding, be capable of operating skyjack, forklift, scissor lift, or other heavy equipment.
  • Wear a tool belt weighing at least 30 lbs., and regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to deal effectively with guests, management, and other employees while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and to work around varying noise levels, illuminations, air quality, and odors.
  • Possess ability to complete assigned tasks while wearing personal protective gear.
  • Ability to withstand regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat, indoor environmental conditions, such as: noise, dust, cigarette smoke, varying lighting levels, etc., and extreme hot/cold working conditions when working outdoors.
