Job Description
Design and Ideation: Spearhead the innovation and development of power cable products, considering crucial factors like voltage ratings, conductor sizing, insulation materials, and shielding requisites. Collaborate closely with internal teams and clientele to gather specific requirements and detailed specifications. Formulate comprehensive product blueprints, encompassing both electrical and mechanical prerequisites, material selection, and performance benchmarks. Rigorously test and validate design concepts through feasibility studies and prototyping.
Material and Component Optimization: Conduct thorough research and assessment of various materials, including conductors, shielding, and jacketing to ensure exceptional performance, safety, and adherence to industry standards. Verify that materials and components meet stringent industry requirements, performance criteria, and cost-effectiveness goals. Employ cost analysis and implement value engineering initiatives to optimize material usage and drive down production costs.
Manufacturing Process Enhancement: Collaborate closely with manufacturing and process engineering teams to devise efficient and scalable production methods for electrical products. Continuously optimize manufacturing processes to boost productivity, reduce waste, and maintain impeccable quality standards. Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, safety protocols, and stringent quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process. Provide expert guidance on equipment selection and streamlining to bolster the manufacturing process.
Quality Assurance Excellence: Establish and enforce robust quality assurance protocols and standards for electrical products. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of prototypes and production samples. Ensure unwavering compliance with industry standards, precise customer specifications, and relevant regulatory requirements. Address any quality issues or product discrepancies through meticulous root cause analysis and implement design modifications for continuous improvement.
Managerial and Leadership Prowess: Cultivate a strong corporate identity in line with the company's Mission statement. Ensure all staff adhere to the established EHS and QMS systems. Provide crucial inputs for annual budget preparation, including staff expenses, operational costs, and capital expenditure requirements, and proficiently manage resources within approved budgets. Supervise and elevate the day-to-day performance of the PDC department, fostering a cohesive and result-oriented team environment. Evaluate individual team members' performance, offer constructive feedback, and guide their professional growth through performance reviews, development goal setting, and targeted training initiatives. Demonstrate adept leadership by offering clear direction, setting ambitious goals, and nurturing an atmosphere of collaboration and innovation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging self-reflection, learning from mistakes, and actively embracing feedback. Identifying and proactively addressing opportunities for process optimization, tool enhancement, and team dynamics improvement.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and related field
- Design and product development experience
- In-depth understanding of industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements related to power cable manufacturing.
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes, testing methodologies, and statistical analysis techniques.
